Terms of service
Last updated November 1, 2026
These terms are an agreement between Moddi Apps Ltd ("Moddi", "we", "us"), a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17537806), and the business that installs or uses Moddi ("you"). By installing, accessing or using Moddi you accept them. If you accept on behalf of a business, you confirm you have the authority to bind it.
1. The service
Moddi is an app for Shopify merchants. It gives you a spreadsheet-style editor for your catalog, bulk edits, automations, version history, translations and AI writing tools. We may improve, change or remove features over time. If we remove something you rely on in a way that materially hurts you, we will give reasonable notice.
2. Shopify and your account
- You need a Shopify store and the right to give Moddi access to it. Moddi works through Shopify's permissions, and you can remove access at any time by uninstalling.
- Your use of Shopify is governed by Shopify's own terms, not these. Shopify is not a party to this agreement and is not responsible for Moddi.
- Everyone who uses Moddi through your store acts under your account. You are responsible for what they do, and for keeping the right people in your Shopify staff list.
- Moddi is for business use. You must be at least 18.
3. Your data
- You own your data. Your products, files, translations and other catalog content remain yours. You give us permission to copy, store, process and send it as needed to provide Moddi to you, including to the AI providers you ask us to use.
- You promise that you have the rights to that data and that using Moddi with it does not break the law or anyone's rights.
- Our privacy policy explains what we collect. Where we process personal data for you, our Data Processing Addendum applies and forms part of these terms.
- After you uninstall, we delete your data as the privacy policy describes. If you need a copy first, export it before you uninstall.
4. Edits, drafts and history
Edits and AI results are drafts until you send them to Shopify. Once you do, they change your live store. Moddi keeps a history of changes so you can review and revert them, but history is a convenience, not a backup. History is kept for the number of days your plan includes, and some high-frequency fields, such as inventory, are excluded. You are responsible for keeping your own backups of anything you cannot afford to lose, and for checking a bulk edit's preview before you apply it.
5. AI features
- AI output can be wrong, repetitive, offensive or unsuitable, and can include claims that aren't true. Always review it before sending it to Shopify. You are responsible for what you publish, including that it is accurate and meets your legal obligations (for example product claims and advertising rules).
- Results are not guaranteed to be unique, and similar output may be produced for other people.
- AI tasks use credits. You see an estimate before every run, and Moddi won't start a run you can't afford. Included credits renew each billing cycle and unused ones do not roll over. Extra credits are charged as usage on your Shopify bill at the price shown in your plan.
- Unless you have switched on an automation to send results to Shopify without review, AI results always arrive as drafts.
- You must not use AI features to produce unlawful, deceptive or harmful content, or in a way that breaks our AI providers' usage policies.
6. Plans, trials and billing
- Plans, prices and allowances are shown on the pricing page and in the app. Prices are in US dollars and exclude taxes, which Shopify adds where required.
- Paid plans start with a free trial where one is shown. If you do not uninstall before the trial ends, Shopify starts charging you.
- All charges are made and collected by Shopify, on your Shopify bill. Plans renew every 30 days until you uninstall or change plan.
- We may change prices or allowances. We will give at least 30 days' notice, and the change takes effect at your next renewal.
- You can cancel at any time by uninstalling Moddi. Charges already made are not refunded for part of a period, except where the law requires, or where we agree to a refund. If you were charged in error or Moddi did not work as described, contact us within 30 days of the charge and we will review it fairly. Shopify's own billing and refund rules also apply.
- If a payment fails, we may limit paid features until it is resolved.
7. Acceptable use
You must not use Moddi to:
- break the law or others' rights, or sell or promote anything unlawful;
- interfere with or overload Moddi, or try to get around its limits, security or billing;
- access data that is not yours, or probe, scan or test Moddi's security without our written permission;
- copy, resell, reverse-engineer or build a competing service from Moddi, except where the law allows;
- use scripts or automation to call Moddi other than through its own features; or
- breach Shopify's terms or the terms of our providers.
8. Third-party services
Moddi works with Shopify and uses other providers, such as AI providers. We are not responsible for services we don't run, or for changes Shopify makes to its platform or API that affect Moddi. Third-party apps, themes and services you use alongside Moddi are used at your own risk and under their own terms.
9. Our rights in Moddi
Moddi, its software, design, name and logo belong to us and our licensors. We give you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use Moddi during the agreement, under these terms. You give us permission to use feedback and ideas you send us without owing you anything. You may not use our name or logo without our written consent, apart from truthfully saying you use Moddi.
10. Support and availability
We offer support by email and in-app chat, and we aim to reply promptly, but we do not promise a response time. We work to keep Moddi available but cannot promise that it will be uninterrupted or error-free. Planned maintenance and Shopify outages may affect it.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We will post the new version with a new date and, for material changes, tell you by email or in the app at least 30 days before they apply. If you keep using Moddi after that, you accept the update. If you do not agree, you can uninstall before the change takes effect.
12. Ending the agreement
- You can stop at any time by uninstalling Moddi.
- We may suspend or end your access if you materially break these terms and do not fix it within a reasonable time after we ask, or immediately if the breach is serious, unlawful or puts others or Moddi at risk. We may also end the service entirely, with at least 60 days' notice.
- When the agreement ends, your right to use Moddi stops and we handle your data as described in the privacy policy. Sections that by their nature should survive (such as liability, ownership and the law that applies) do.
13. Disclaimer
Moddi is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we do not give any warranties other than those in these terms, including that Moddi will meet your needs, be error-free, or that AI output will be accurate.
14. Limits on our liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation. Subject to that:
- we are not liable for loss of profits, revenue, sales, goodwill or data, or for indirect or consequential loss, whether or not we were told it was possible; and
- our total liability to you for all claims connected with Moddi in any 12-month period is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event that gave rise to the claim.
15. Indemnity
You will cover the reasonable costs of claims brought by a third party against us because of your data, the content you publish with Moddi, or your breach of these terms, as long as we tell you promptly, let you help defend it, and do not settle without your agreement.
16. Sanctions and export
You confirm that you are not subject to UK, US, EU or UN sanctions, and you will not use Moddi in breach of them. We may end access if you do.
17. General
- Entire agreement: these terms, together with the privacy policy and DPA, are the whole agreement and replace earlier ones about Moddi.
- If part is unenforceable, the rest still applies.
- No waiver: not enforcing a right does not mean we give it up.
- Assignment: you may not transfer your rights without our consent. We may transfer ours as part of a merger, sale or reorganization.
- No third-party rights: no one else can enforce these terms.
- Notices: we may notify you by email, in the app, or by posting on our site. You can reach us at the address below.
- Language: the English version controls if there is a translation.
18. Governing law
These terms and any dispute connected with them are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction. Mandatory consumer or local laws that cannot be waived still apply to you.
